LINKIN PARK To Perform Single Live For First Time On 'MTV Video Music Awards'
September 1, 2010According to The Pulse of Radio, LINKIN PARK will perform its new single, "The Catalyst", live for the first time at the MTV Video Music Awards, scheduled for September 12 in Los Angeles. Singer Chester Bennington said in a statement, "After two years of working on our new album, we're looking forward to sharing our first live performance of new music with our fans around the world on the MTV Awards." The performance will come just two days before the September 14 release of LINKIN PARK's fourth studio effort, "A Thousand Suns", from which "The Catalyst" is taken.
"A Thousand Suns" is said to be an intricate, heavily produced CD, and guitarist Brad Delson told The Pulse of Radio that playing songs from the album live will be challenging. "Well, it's gonna be a challenge, to say the least, because when we were making this album in the studio, it's unbridled use of tracks and — I mean, there's a song, 'When They Come For Me', I think it has like more than a hundred tracks on it," he said. "So I don't know how you begin to try to play that live, but we're certainly gonna do our best to try to figure it out."
"The Catalyst" reached No. 1 on the Billboard alternative rock chart last week, making it the band's ninth chart-topper. The video for the track also made its premiere last week.
LINKIN PARK will play a special show on the date of the album's release at the Nokia Theater in New York City, before heading to South America and Europe throughout the fall.
The 2010 MTV Video Music Awards will air live from the Nokia Theater in downtown Los Angeles beginning at 9:00 p.m. ET.
